Dear Business Objects Customer,
As you know, SAP has recently announced its intent to acquire Business Objects. We would like to take this opportunity to again underscore our commitment to you, our customers.
Our primary focus is and remains customer success and your satisfaction. We plan not only to make the combination of our companies as transparent as possible for you, but also to deliver added and immediate value. Business Objects' expertise in BI tools, operational analytics, data management and enterprise performance management, combined with SAP's expertise in software for the business user, processes and vertical solutions, will bring to market the industry's most complete business intelligence product line.
We fully understand that Business Objects' success has been largely based on our openness, and our ability to work neutrally with the broadest range of applications, middleware and databases, as well as delivering a great user experience. We are committed to continue with this value proposition.
We plan to protect, extend, and evolve your investments by:
- Operating Business Objects independently, based on open standards within the SAP Group.
- Continuing to invest in the Business Objects' current product line, and delivering targeted services and customer support. Specifically, we do not intend to stop investment in any existing Business Objects solution as a result of this transaction.
- Maintaining support and continuing to be the leader for heterogeneous databases, middleware, and application platforms (whether they are SAP- or non-SAP-based applications). Specifically, if you are an Oracle customer, Business Objects will continue to provide you with the best BI solution within your Oracle environment, as we do today.
- Delivering a broad, combined and integrated Enterprise Performance Management Suite that spans planning, financial consolidation, Governance, Risk, and Compliance, profitability, business analytics, BI search and query, reporting, and data integration, all on a unified and open BI platform. Specifically, with regard to planning and consolidation, we believe that the BusinessObjects EPM XI suite, which includes the former Cartesis Financial management offering, the integrated SAP Consolidation offering and the OutlookSoft suite of products correspond to different sets of needs, and as such we intend to maintain, evolve and invest in these product lines in the future.
We believe this represents a tremendous opportunity for you. You will have access to an end-to-end enterprise performance management system that includes the industry's leading BI solutions plus, planning, budgeting, consolidation, profitability, operational analytics and compliance reporting.
Moreover, Business Objects and SAP partners will be able to take advantage of the combination of our applications and technology ecosystems, worldwide resources, and increased partner investments to enable and enhance your business.
We are planning to fully leverage the respective expertise of both of our sales, services and support teams once the transaction has closed. As a result, the SAP and Business Objects teams will 'stay in their lanes' and serve you in each of their respective product areas of expertise. We will ensure that both teams are fully coordinated to achieve your business objectives.
Once the transaction has closed, your existing Business Objects contacts -- professional services, support, sales, and development, will remain essentially the same as today, and will be the team responsible for handling all your business intelligence and performance management needs.
In addition, we have set up many channels to address any questions you may have. A Customer FAQ has been developed to address any questions that you may have around transition plans. More detailed information about our plans for the combination, answers to your questions, and Customer Care numbers can be found at businessobjects.com/SAPacquisition.
Thank you for your continued support and business.
Regards,
John Schwarz
