Doug Merritt is executive vice president and general manager of Business User Global Sales for Business Objects, an SAP company. In this role, he is responsible for all revenues generated from the sale of Business User and Business Objects products through any channel on a global basis. Merrit is also a corporate officer and a member of the Executive Council of SAP AG. He reports dually to SAP Executive Board members Bill McDermott and John Schwarz.

Previously, Merritt served as executive vice president and general manager of Performance Optimization Applications for Business Objects and as the president of SAP Labs. He was responsible for creating and driving the performance optimization application category. Developing the category was a natural outgrowth of Merritt's ongoing work at SAP to bring business user solutions to market, making SAP business processes and data more easily available to a broad community of users.

Merritt has over two decades of leadership experience in the enterprise software industry, heading up product, sales, market, and strategy groups. Previously, he was founder, president, and CEO of Icarian, Inc., later acquired by Workstream Corp., a pioneer in the online human capital talent management category. Earlier, Merritt served in various leadership positions for Patrol Software (acquired by BMC Software), Powersoft (acquired by Sybase), Oracle Corporation, and Accenture/Andersen Consulting.

Merritt holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of the Pacific in California.
